Customer Service Product Q&A

Tri-Tronics Product Q&A offers information on our products. These are answers to questions that are frequently asked about our e-collar training units. If you have any more questions please contact our knowledgeable Customer Service.

Are Tri-Tronics Products Safe For My Dog?

Yes, if properly used.

How Do I Get Started Training My Dog?

Tri-Tronics remote trainers come with an Owner’s Manual containing a thorough explanation of the product, how to set up the product for use, and basic training tips. In addition, a basic training DVD is shipped with all but the Pro units.

What Age Should My Dog Be Before I Can Begin Using an e-collar On Him?

We normally suggest that a dog be at least 4 to 6 months old before using the collar. Your dog needs to have a basic understanding of what is expected of him and know the meaning of basic commands.

What Is the Average Time Needed to Train a Dog Using the e-collar?

This can vary among dogs and trainers. It can also depend upon what you are trying to train your dog to do, the trainer’s skill and experience, and the type of dog being trained.

What is the Difference Between Continuous and Momentary Stimulation?

“Continuous” is a constant period of stimulation received by the dog for a maximum of approximately eight seconds or until the trainer releases the transmitter button. “Momentary” is a quick “attention getter” that lasts only for a fraction of a second.

What Stimulation Level Should I Use to Begin Training My Dog?

Tri-Tronics recommends that you always start with the lowest intensity level and work your way up as needed.

Can I Use My Remote Trainer In The Water?

Yes. Tri-Tronics Field, Pro, and Sport Series products are all designed to be waterproof.

What If I Need My Remote Trainer to Work With An Additional Dog?

All Tri-Tronics Sport, Pro and Field Series G3 EXP systems provide the opportunity to add more dogs. Depending upon model you can add from 1 to 5 additional dogs. (Sport Junior is not expandable)

How Do I Charge My Remote Trainer?

All Tri-Tronics systems that use rechargeable batteries are designed with the Tri-Tronics proprietary Quick Charge™ two hour battery charging system. The charging unit, cradles, and adapters are included with the system when purchased.

Will The Cold Weather Affect The Performance of My Remote Trainer?

All batteries experience a normal drop in voltage during cold weather. As a battery powered device, your remote trainer or remote launcher can be affected by normal voltage drops during winter months. We have many tips on our web site for improving performance in cold weather.
